I was going to buy 2 Motorola VHF Saber Radios, Model number: H43SAG7139_N

it’s a 6-WATT with 24 Channels (Saber 1E) with the # 148.000 to 172.000 MHz Bandsplit, I was wondering if I could

1. Have it programmed for the Maritime Emergency Frequency (156.800 MHz on FM)

2 Can they work be programmed for Simplex (Radio to Radio with NO Repeater) and have Secure Voice still? Or do I need a repeater or using “Secure Mode” on the Radio? They will be used for security on a frequency such as 159.450 (Example)

I am buying this for a friend and he wants the channels to be in low frequency so he can use it in Europe. Does anybody know which model I should buy. I am clueless about these things. Thanks

VHF low is the frequency band between 30 and 54 MHZ…. This is above the 10 meter ham band and below the 6 meter ham band….

It was commonly used by rural fire departments until recently but in many area’s of the USA these channels have been abandoned….. Finding an “off the shelf” radio with the channels already programmed will be difficult…..

On the other hand if he if referring to the lower end of the VHF Hi-Band around 150 to 155 MHZ then your in luck…. Go to ebay and look for them….

Type in this in your search on ebay and a bunch will show up…..
